Here is a beautiful very rare Volcanic Repeating Arms .41 cal Navy 6" barrel
3 digit Serial Number / ONLY 1200 manufactured. Rare / The Volcanic was
a precursor to the Henry. The Volcanic Markings on the barrel are clear.
The Volcanic was a breechloading tubular magazine repeater with blued barrel
and Bronze frame. Most of these guns are in Museum and Private Collectors.
Estimated Auction Value today $30,000--$39,000.
FYI The Volcanic Repeating Arms Company incorporated with a new and
important person, namely Oliver F. Winchester who would have an impact
on the American Arms industry over the next century and half. The new
Company introduced the Volcanic pistol using the improvements made by Horace Smith
and Daniel Wesson. The barrels are marked, "THE VOLCANIC REPEATING ARMS CO.
PATENT NEW HAVEN, CONN. FEB 1854."
